Auction #5- nice collection of Ohio fossils

Not being an expert in fossils, I will describe these as best I can. I will also be taking the collection to the Geofair this weekend for more positive identification and description.

6 whole brachiopods, each are over an inch wide
1 cephalopod, a very nice specimen about 2" long
3 pieces of petrified wood in limestone from a quarry in Delaware county

This is a nice starter collection of Ohio fossils. The item will open with my bid of $10. The bidding will end May 6th at 8:00 pm eastern time.

I'm not completely positive..but about 99% sure that top pic of a brach is actually an enrolled trilobite, sure does look like it. My bid will be $13.00

Ok..after studying the specimens shown in the pic, Goldeneye asked me to try and ID them and this is as close as I can come with all my reference material.

top to left I've searched and searched for a brach with these characteristics and I now believe this is also a enrolled trilobite..due to the large ridge running down from the top, also of the genus..Flexicalymene

bottom left brachiopod..Plectorthis

bottom right brachiopod.. Lepidocyclus/Hiscobeccus

Cephalopod off to the left..a straight shelled Nautiloid, probably the genus..Michelinoceras


Very nice looking fossils, I'll have to sort through mine and donate some for these wonderful auctions. I have some awesome pyritized (golden) specimens from western NY and beautiful white pyrophilite fern fossils (on black shale) from the famed (now off limits) St. Clair site here in PA...

As it turns out, the wood is actually coral. The others are brachs and cephalopod

That's coral?? Did they identify what kind it was? The ones that resemble trilos match up perfectly with photos of that genus...either way they are very beautiful specimens. OH has amazing places to collect at and I hope to come that way in the near future to enjoy not only fossiling but prospecting too.

They told me what formation the coral came from but I did not write it down. The formation is in Delaware county Ohio
